Why convert price lists and inventory reports to Excel?
Suppliers send price lists as PDFs. Warehouse and POS systems print stock reports as PDFs. The work, however, needs a spreadsheet: updating your own prices after a supplier change, comparing two suppliers item by item, importing a catalog into a shop system, or reconciling a physical count against the system stock. Typing hundreds of SKUs by hand is slow and error-prone.
DocToTable extracts the table directly. Each item code, description, unit, price and quantity goes into its own column.
How it works
- Upload the PDF with the converter above, by drag and drop or file picker. No account needed.
- The table is detected. Column boundaries are recognised from the document, not from a template. Scanned lists go through OCR.
- Preview and download. Check the rows in the browser, then export as Excel (XLSX) or CSV.
The first 2 pages in each of 3 finite browser previews convert free. Eligible accounts may receive 10 one-time page credits. Page packs and plans cover long catalogs; see pricing.
Common price list and inventory tasks
| Task | What the spreadsheet gives you |
|---|---|
| Supplier price update | Old and new prices per SKU, ready for a VLOOKUP against your own list |
| Supplier comparison | Two lists side by side, same item codes, different prices |
| Shop or POS import | SKU, description and price as CSV for the importer |
| Stock reconciliation | Counted quantities next to system quantities |
| Margin calculation | Purchase prices in one column, your sale prices in the next |
Tips for the best results
- Price columns: check decimal and thousands separators in the preview, especially on lists from another country. Excel can misinterpret "1.250,00" if the sheet locale differs.
- Grouped lists: catalogs often print a category heading between groups of items. Those headings appear as rows; filter or delete them after export.
- Scanned count sheets: scan at 300 DPI or higher. Handwritten quantities need a careful check.
- Long lists: the row count in the preview should match the item count printed on the list, if there is one.
- Import: export CSV when the shop or inventory importer expects plain text.
